      <img src="http://static.polytopical.com/images/readerad.gif" align="right" width="160" height="50" border="0">The setting to remove the small banner adverts that appear in the top right-hand corner of the Adobe Reader toolbar is the <em>Show Messages and automatically update</em> option, unintuitively in the Startup section of Preferences.<p>Sanjay also has <a href="http://sastools.com/b2/post/79394202" title="Make Acrobat Reader 6 load faster">some tips</a> on improving the startup time for Reader by removing items you don't use from the plugins folder.
